My lovely daughter Laura lives in Ornans, France. The River Loue runs through the centre of the town and this part of the river is referred to as ‘The Mirror’ since much of the time it is very flat and still, probably due to the weir at the far end.
Gustave Courbet was born in Ornans and painted the river near this spot.
