Clay Head of Sonja – Finished at last!
I think I have done all I can to finalise the head of Sonja, it has been rather a bumpy ride with some unplanned problems!
This week I entered the mini-digital age!
After visiting the David Hockney exhibition at the RA last week I decided to experiment with digital images on the iPhone.
Clay Head of Sonja – Day 5
I worked at home this week and decided to try a new approach, to coil-build the hair as a separate bowl shape and apply it to the head once it had hardened a bit.
Head of Sonja in Clay – Day 3/4
Taking a fresh look at the head since last week I thought there were some small faults which I could remedy and so I spent the morning developing the features a bit more.
Head of Sonja in Clay – Day 2
I spent most of today refining the features and trying to get the fullness into the soft flesh areas!
Three little preparatory sketches
I have done three little colour sketches for larger paintings I am planning to do shortly!
Started a New Head in Clay – Day 1
I have signed up for a course of 10 week workshops in clay modelling at The Phoenix Studio in Towersey.
‘Field of Linseed’ – Step-by-Step DAY 3
I left the painting to dry overnight and then today, very carefully with my finger, I removed all the masking fluid.
‘Field of Linseed’ – Step-by-Step DAY 2
DAY TWO – 19th Jan 2012 Having let the whole painting dry overnight I applied a little more spatter to the linseed in the foreground as I felt it needed to be more dense – I can always take out but it is a little more difficult to put back!
Field of Linseed – Step-by-Step DAY 1
I am working on a new watercolour painting of a ‘Field of Linseed’ seen near Emmington last summer and making step-by-step notes as it happens.
